If you are going to the Granville Fireworks at Wildwood Park, stop by our photo booth for a FREE family photo. The first 200 kids to get their picture taken receive a free t-shirt. You will get a print mailed to you and the photos go up online for voting. The family with the most votes wins a FREE Family Portrait Session. The goofier the better for these pictures. We will have props and signs there for you. I'll let you know what the voting site is on Saturday. See you there!

The figure in sculpture has been done and is done. It is not new. Indeed, it goes back to the earliest archaeological traces of the human representational endeavor. As an object of contemplation, perhaps its day has passed. Still it endures.
The figure is a form, and a curious one at that. It is a form that elicits a response, an appreciation, even when created by some culture, some people or some language which might be non-existent today. It is a form that is most readily comprehended. Unlike a geometric form, the figure is not precisely defined. Its effectiveness lies in the fact that it is, by nature, only partially defined. It is never complete. It is always open ended, an invitation to something more.

Painting is fun, therapeutic and rewarding. Earl Duck feels a sense of adventure when visualizing a new project, almost as if planning a journey to an unfamiliar place. “God gives us creative power to positively touch other people, and it is rewarding when they tell me that I did. It is great fun to study beautiful things for long periods of time. The time spent in the quietness of painting has a calming and therapeutic effect on my life.”
All of His paintings are done in oils and on stretched canvas. He is attracted to oil painting because of the rich colors and the workability that it allows. Earl does a wide variety of subjects because it allows him to grow because his interests vary.
“Painting humbles me because the subjects become more elusive as I progress. The deeper the study, the more intricate and complex things appear. In the midst of it all I see things that would normally be overlooked in a casual glance. These continual observations invite me to appreciate creation and it would be to a lesser extent if not for the privilege of painting.”
